Waze vs Google Maps

Greetings,

I see a lot of ppl are recommending Waze for navigation and driving in Panama. Our Airbnb hosts and others have said to use it versus other map apps. I have it on my phone and have used but I was just wondering if Google Maps doesn't work so well there.
