I am having questions about "maintaining a US address" wile living in Panama for tax, banking, investment,etc. purposes. I have not made the "big move" yet, still in the US.
All my family members who might
help with this lived unhealthy lives and have passed, or just dissapeared
after my parents died. I do not have any friends close enough that I could try
explaining how they could help me maintain a US address. I myself do not know
what that would involve for them.
Can anyone give me an idea of what the implications are with my not being able to
maintain a US address outside of a mail forwarding service? I have heard second hand
that this can effect banking,
like Schwab would close any domestic account I might have if they discover I just gave them a
mail forwarding address.
Possibly there are also issues with Social Security, Medicare, etc.
Has anyone in a position similar to mine had problems with this or found a work around while living in Panama?
More than willing to pay a fixer here in the states, if there is one.
Starting to consider other retirement options here in the USA.
