Getting to David

Hello,
I’m wondering if there is a preferred way of getting Chiriqui. Air Panama vs. Copa? Or is taking the bus a viable option, to see a bit more of the country and maybe stop for a few days along the way? Are buses nice and comfortable like the long distance buses in Mexico, or more like in Europe were they are just slightly nicer versions of city buses?
