Great news: I have read in Panamanian press that Google Pay should now be available in Panama. Apple Pay has been there for quite some time.
However, I tried twice to use Google Pay with my phone, without any success. The card linked to my Google Pay is not a Panamanian card. Could it be the reason? My phone is not recent, but it has NFC.
Has anyone tried? or could try? I would like to understand whether Google Pay can be used or will be opened later to foreign cards? Or does it need a Panamanian card (of one of the partner banks here)? Or the shops need to update their system? Or we just need to wait for more updates in the payment system before it is fully functional? (Or maybe this is my phone?!)
