Health Insurance

I am a Canadian citizen now living in Panama full time. In Canada we have socialized medicine so we don't pay for any doctor's visits, hospital visits or visits to specialists. Therefore I don't have health insurance.
I would be interested to know if anyone else has faced this same situation and if there are any suggestions. I have been paying as I go.
