Hello and a question

Hi my name is Francis. I've recently relocated to Boquete, Panama. I've spent some time in Panama before, and about 4 days in Boquete previously. I love the area and the weather. While I was in Panama City recently I purchased a vehicle and drove it to Boquete. Now I'm wondering about obtaining a Panama drivers license. The one thing I'm confused about is whether I need to get my foreign drivers license authenticated in Panama City prior to applying for a license, or is that not necessary? The information I've read online so far is a bit confusting. Any experience with this would be greatly appreciated. Thx.
