I am from India and my company asked me to consider to be in poland for 12 Months. The position offered is in Katowice. My wife and me are english speaking and can not speak/understand Polish. We have a kid who is 2 1/2 years.

Where can i get more information about this town/city. How is the social life there? What would be cost of living? Can I survice in Poland, specifically in Katowice, for 12 months with out knowing Polish language?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
