American moving to Spain

My wife is a US citizen while I am Swedish. We are looking to move to Spain. We are going to apply for the residence permit in New York and wondered if anybody has exact advice on requirements when applying in the US as well as when getting to Spain applying for the permanent recedency.

Any help would be much appreciated.
