moving to spain

A friend and i have decided we want to live and work in Europe for a year or more.. We are both in the process of getting our British Passports, what we need to find out is what else will be needed in order for us to be employed.. ie visas? Also, we have been trying to decide whethere or not to live in Barcelona or Madrid, ive been looking online and it appears that living costs are less in Madrid... Feedback and advice would be muich obliged. Also does anyone know of any sites that may assist me in seeking employment and housing..?
