MOVING TO CATALONIA?

Hello, I am preparing to move to Catalonia with my 4 year old son and would greatly appreciate any feedback on location : my intent is to come spend some time "looking around", outside of Barcelona, but suggestions of specific places would be very helpful.
I am a single mother, in my early forties ; i would like to find a small town, reasonably affordable, up to 60-70kms from Barcelona, that is dynamic yet manageable (I am fed up with cities) and with good bilingual schools. I don't care if it is inland or on the sea, as I am more interested in having a garden than being by a crowded beach.
Also, as I currently live in Tangiers, if anyone is interested in a home exchange for a month or so in 2011 let me know and we can discuss possibilities.
