Renting my retirement property

I plan on purchasing an apartment in Costa del Sol in a few year and retire there for 6 months a year.

I also plan on applying for a resident's (only) visa and rent it out during the peak tourist season while I return to Canada.

I suddenly donned on me that legally I can't rent it as it may be considered income. Paying taxes is not an issue.

Does anyone have any insight to offer on this issue? Much appreciated...
