Income and savings requirements

I currently live in the United States and would like to retire early and move to either Spain or Portugal to live. My wife has a small pension, but neither of us is on Social Security. Her pension is just under the minimum monthly income requirement. But we also have a large nest egg. Does anyone have experience with savings requirements and how much savings would a married couple need?
