What Are My Options

Dear Expats.
I am working on making my dream come true - move to Barcelona. What are my options for the kind of visa we can obtain?

We are a 38 and 43 y.o. US-based couple with a child and an older parent. We have advanced Ivy League degrees and high paying jobs here. Basic Spanish for now. No relatives or ancestry in Spain.
I am an investment manager and husband is a litigation lawyer. Understanding that litigation lawyers will be challenged to get a job outside of the US, he is considering staying employed at his US firm and commuting from Spain once a month.

I find it hard to find employment in my industry in Spain because most finance firms are in Madrid.

I am working on establishing an internet-based business but don’t have a history of reliable cash flows on this front.

I am aware of a RE investment option. Are there any other ways to move for us?

Thanks a lot.
