Moving with Kids - announcing and planning the move

Hello expat community!

We are planning to move to Spain from the U.S. with our boys, ages 10 and 7, this coming fall for a year or more. For those who have made the move with similarly aged kids, what worked best for your family when it came to how/when to announce the move?
