Help? Planning Relo to Spain in 2025

My wife and I are planning to relocate, at least temporarily, to Barcelona sometime in 2025. My company has a subsidiary in Germany. If I can get them to transfer me (I can do my job from anywhere) and sponsor me for a German work Visa... would that cover me for living (and remotely working) under a long term (more than 3 months) visa in Spain? Anyone done this? Any idea what costs to my company (for the HR transfer and Visa only) would be? We would cover our relo and travel costs. Thinking we'd probably go with one or more short term (3-6 month) flat rentals, likely in or near Gothic Quarter or La Barceloneta - we want to be near both the Public Market and the beach. Planning a "try-out" month long stay in spring or fall of '23, so y wife can check out Spain (never been) and I can try out working 3pm - 11pm (US hrs). We'd welcome any other tips or advice for planning a 1-3 year Spain Ex-Pat "Chapter." Thx. - Peter H.
