Spain Retirement

I am single man from the USA and considering retiring in the Costa del Sol area of Spain in a year or so. I have a trip planned there for next summer to check it out.

I want to be in an area where I can walk to restaurants and shopping as well as a good area to meet people.

Having good health care nearby is a requirement.

I also want to be able to use Spain as a base to travel to other European countries.

I would probaly like to rent for a year to make sure the area works for me. I would perfer a 2 or 3 bedroom condo to have room for visiting family and friends.

I don't speak Spanish but I have been using Duolingo for a few months to learn. I would probably take Spanish classes while there to become at least semi-fluent.
