Deciding whether to move London to SL

Hi

I am a British/Canadian lady married to a Sri Lankan. We are living in London & happy. We are thinking of starting a family soon and my family are spread round the world, whereas my husband has a very large, warm, happy extended family back in Colombo.

We have started to think whether it would be better to move back to Colombo once we have kids to provide them better quality of life in terms of being brought up with their extended family and giving them a better sense of belonging that think we could give them here.

I am aware of course we would be giving up a better (and free) schooling, health care system & all material aspects you can readily get in the 1st world.

However my husband went to govt school - Royal College and he is one of the best educated people I know. And I know Health care is improving. Plus there are lots of opportunities in SL now with booming economy so we were thinking of setting up business (dont know what yet!)

We have visited lots of times but never lived there so would be really interested to hear how other westerners experience may have been moving to Colombo & whether you would recommend it as a good place to bring up children? Or if anyone has any experience with finding work?

Look forward to hearing from you
