Finding work in Switzerland??

Hi! My boyfriend just got a job in Basel and I would very much love to join him :) although I've read that Swizterland does not acknowledge 'live-ins' as legal so I would not be able to get a wokr permit through him. I've also read that getting a work permit is tough.

How is the IT market for foreign workers (Canada) there? Would I be able to go on a tourist visa and get a work permit once I'm there??

Any advice or help would be appreciated! thanks!
