I'd appreciate any very specific tips on Amsterdan -- lodging, eating, sightseeing and local transportation. An example: Many bars serve a large-portion dagschotel, or dish of the day, for around $5 less than other meals. Attend free lunchtime concert by the Netherlands Philharmonic, Netherlands Ballet Orchestra and others on Wednesdays from September to June at the Concertgebouw.
