returning to Turkey

I lived for about 6 months in Turkey in the 1960s and loved it. The people were exceptionally kind and helpful. Now, I am 74 years old and want to spend some time away from the states. I have considered moving to Latin America but my memories of Turkey are so positive I think I will try living there for 6 monts and then make a decision about the future.
I would like to find a small apartment, in a non tourist destination. An area with moderate weather (not in the North) would be best.
Please , if you will, suggest a town and give me some idea of the cost of rental housing.
