ADVICE ON SHARJAH

We are an older ex-pat couple from the u.s., currently living in singapore. We'd like to move to Dubai if possible. My husband worked in animation in Hollywood for many years, and we've been traveling around Asia for three years, lecturing and teaching. He found a position on line teaching in his field, however it is in Sharjah. Is this very different from Dubai? Are there many "westerners" there? Any help is much appreciated!
