Also, the country is a popular tourist spot year-round, so accommodations can be expensive. Make sure you factor that into your budget when you plan your move. Additionally, Costa Rica is a tropical country and is vulnerable to natural disasters such as hurricanes, flooding, and earthquakes. Make sure your area is well prepared with an emergency plan and supplies. Lastly, while fluency in Spanish is not required, it is helpful to know some basics before you move.
