An Expat Talks about What is Was Like Having a Baby in Amman, Jordan
What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?
Amman
How recently did you give birth in the country that you are reporting on?
2006
Describe your experience giving birth there. What type of facility did you go to? What (if any) type of pain management did you use? How long did you stay in the hospital? Was it a positive experience? Etc...
My pregnancy and childbirth experience in Jordan were phenomenal. I had an excellent doctor who spoke perfect English and dealt with many expats. I had an ultrasound during each monthly prenatal visit and my doctor took time to answer all of my questions.
The hospital I gave birth in was also excellent - I had a very large (larger than my apartment) private suite with excellent nursing care. I had a c-section and was in the hospital for two nights with no complications.

How did you choose your doctor, midwife or other type of medical professional?
Freinds' suggestion.
If you were to have another child in this country, would you do anything differently in terms of preparation and/or the delivery?
No.
If a friend of yours living in the same country were expecting a baby, what advice would you give her?
Find a doctor you are comfortable with and that uses Farah Hospital. Pay the extremely small fee to upgrade to one of the suites. I didn't want to leave the hospital it was so luxurious!
