Expat Advice: Culture Shock in Santa Ana, Costa Rica

Submitted by Ducko

What is the name of the city or town that you are reporting on?

Santa Ana

If they speak another language in your new country, do you speak the language? If yes, did you learn the language before you moved or while abroad? If no, are you planning to learn the language?

Language is big barrier and I recommend hiring a good translator when your arrive for few hours here and there to get acclimated. Costa Rican people are gracious and very friendly. If you don't speak Spanish I highly recommend using the translate app. Tutorials are available online and it is so helpful even translating conversations live time. You can also purchase hand held translate devices which can help.
