Mijas is a picturesque white-washed village located on the Costa del Sol in the province of Málaga, Andalusia. Perched on a hillside overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Mijas is renowned for its charming traditional architecture, narrow winding streets, and stunning coastal views. The village maintains a distinctly Spanish character with its whitewashed buildings, flower-filled balconies, and authentic Andalusian atmosphere. Mijas is famous for its donkey taxis, a traditional form of transport that has become an iconic symbol of the village. The town offers a blend of cultural attractions including art galleries, museums, and historical sites that reflect its rich heritage. The main plaza serves as the heart of the village, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and shops offering local crafts and souvenirs. Mijas attracts visitors seeking an authentic Spanish experience combined with coastal beauty, though it has become increasingly developed as a tourist destination. The village is well-positioned between the bustling coastal resorts and the inland mountains, making it accessible yet maintaining its village charm. The surrounding area offers opportunities for outdoor activities including hiking, water sports, and exploring nearby beaches and natural attractions.
