Sorrento sits on high ground above the sea rather than directly on a broad beach, so the experience is as much about views, cliffs, and access to the coast as it is about swimming. The surrounding landscape is Mediterranean and intensely cultivated in places, with citrus groves, gardens, and steep roads that connect the town to the shoreline below. It feels polished but not oversized, with a strong sense of place shaped by tourism, local craft traditions, and the practical realities of a town that receives a steady flow of seasonal visitors. Even when it is busy, Sorrento retains a measured, almost balcony-like quality: you are often looking outward, across water and toward distant landforms, rather than being enclosed by them.
