"My wife and I have moved to Trevi (PG) from Prague. I am English and she is Anglo-Czech. Having given the Czechs many, many years, we decided to go in search of somewhere friendlier. We have bought a small villa on the bottom edge of Santa Maria in Valle, with our view being of Trevi, about a mile away. I am working to renovate the olive grove, which for many years was left to go feral. We're both in our fifties. I've spent my life as a teacher, with a second 'career' as a painter. I'm not allowed to teach yet on account of the delays here with immigration but my wife, having an EU passport, is already teaching in Foligno. "I want to file visa application (under tourist category) for my family while I have already got visa, type D, for 365 days to carry out postdoctoral research in an Italian university. The university said in the hosting agreement that it will cover the medical insurance coverage for me and for my family during their stay in Italy. The university personnel already intimated the Italian Embassy in India that my family will be covered by SSN and it is their responsibility to get us registered. I wonder if in that case I can leave aside the overseas medical insurance for 30,000 Euro/person required for the tourist visa. Please share your views." - sandip1976
