moving to belize

i am planning on moving to belize sometime in the next 10-12 months and am hoping to make some connections before heading there this fall to visit. i am a professional woman with two dogs and want to live/work on the mainland (not belize city). i just want to make enough to pay for modest living and take care of my dogs-would love to volunteer more than work. belmopan, san ignacio and placencia are the three places that i have been looking at, but would love any kind of direction, connection or suggestion. thanks!
