MOVING QUESTIONS

Dear Sir/Madam-in re move to Belize:

I do hereby request your kind indulgence of answering some of the following questions for me or to refer said matter on to others familiar with the subject matter.

1. I currently live in Minneapolis Minnesota and plan to drive to Belize (if this is even feasible) and need to know the best routing from Minneapolis to Belize, and what papers I will require to go through customs on the Mexican border and all other countries that I must pass through to get to my destination. I have a valid US passport plus a birth certificate.

2. Next, I have a 2005 Ford Taurus, properly registered and insured here in Minnesota and would like to know what I must do to register the vehicle in Belize or if such registration is even necessary.

3. Next, and probably most important to me, there are several Central American venues which put restrictions on retirees planning to live in their countries (in Costa Rica for example which I believe requires you to return to the US every 90 days, to reset the clock for another 90 days,) which doesn’t work for me- does Belize have such a requirement to enable continued residency without having to “reset the clock” so to speak? I understand from a recent advice from others that in lieu of the QRP program, that I can become a permanent resident of Beize if I live in and renew a tourist visa 12 times a year?. Am I to understand that permanent residency is automatically granted once I have done this for the first full year? Finally, what must I do to secure a tourist visa and/or to become a Belize permanent resident, or is permanent residency in Belize even a requirement to continue living there, presumptively with a tourist visa?- can you clarify?

4. I am a semi-retired business man with limited means and would like to make Belize my next home with no plans to return to the US, other than to secure access to health care facilities- I am a veteran and currently use the VA for my health care, and need to know, what health care facilities might be available to me in Belize on a discounted basis.

5. I currently receive less than $1,500 in social security benefits monthly and will need to have Bank info to enable me to transfer money from my US account to an account in Belize?

7. Lastly, as a prospective expat, is there an expat community in Belize or in near proximity to Belize that might be helpful in answering some of these questions, especially as to housing with limited means? Please make that referral with an email contact. Thank you sir/madam for your kind and expedited attention to this matter.

Please send me an email acknowledgment on this. Thank you again.
