Working from home remote via Internet

Like others, we're looking to retire in Belize. Actually, I'd like to continue to work and not yet retire which leads me to my question.

I've read in some of the posts about having a business and working from home via the Internet. I currently work for an Internet company located in California and have worked remote from home for the past 13 years that I've been with them. Nice gig, but want to move to warmer climate and beaches. :-)

I've already looked up the pricing on BTL and need an idea of what others who are connected via BTL and working from home in Belieze think of their service and speed. Basically, I do tech support for over the Internet and use a Cisco IP Soft Phone for phone calls and but also respond to email questions as well. Obviously here in the states, Internet is great but if I want to continue to work from home in Belize, I'd need really Internet.

I'm also 66 years young so another nice thing is, I'm collecting my full Social Security retirement plus getting paid full time. It really could be the best of two worlds if I could make this work.

I'd want to rent not buy so would be looking for a long term rental, preferably somewhere near San Pedro. I've been doing some research on rentals and it appears somewhat thin but since I'm not looking "right" away, it gives some time to look.

We'll be visiting for 10 days in April, 2014 to kind of get the lay of the land so to speak and are hoping to meet some other expats. Are there any regular type "support" meetings or gatherings anyone can recommend attending?
