Help! Trying to move to Belize

Hey all! So I'm in my late 20's and have decided to move to Belize for a year. I have no doubt tat I'll be able to find a place to live but I'm really freaking out about finding a job and obtaining a work permit. I HAVE to work or there is no Belize for me. I'm a bartender by trade. I've read that I have to be in the country for 6 months before I can even get a visa.... and then only if no Belizians want the job, only then can I work. Maybe I'm just brainwashed because I live in the U.S. but it seems outrageous to me. Does anyone know if there are under-the-table options? Or if its possible for an employer buy out my work visa for me(essentially having me under contract) Lastly... is there any possible way AT ALL for me to obtain work within the first few months upon arrival... I'll do anything really.... and you'll never meet a harder working, cleaner, neat, and organized expat! Please , please, please help me out with this and let me know what you all have learned in your time there. I'm specifically looking into Ambergris Caye because of the high tourist influx. Thank you thank you!!!
