Long term rentals

Hi,

We are planning to move to Belize from Texas, USA about the first of November. We have visited most of the areas in Belize and we were pleased. Do you know of properties that will be available then? We would benefit the most by a
mainland home so we could easily travel looking for a home or property to purchase. We would like on or with a view of the beach. Corozal district would be nice, in a community, but would consider other areas. We would like to stay under $700/month unless utilities are included. We would be renting for approximately 6-12 months if we find a home we like to purchase or longer if we decide to build. We need ground floor. Any assistance would be appreciated. Email is our preferred method of communication. My email is [email protected].
Thanks,
Ralph and Juanita Porter

Google long term rental homes in the areas you are interested in. A lot of the houses are not advertised or you find out about them through word of mouth,

I have Googled long term rentals Belize. I have no idea who is reputable and who is not. That is part of what I am asking for. Since I am in Texas, this is as close to word of mouth as I can get.

I have been there, but not recently. Still don't have any idea who is reputable and who to stay away from.

In Corozal (Consejo) most of the long term rentals are handled by "agents" acting on behalf of the owners. A lot of the houses here are for sale but the owners rent them out to have someone in the house. Some are rented only for the six months in the warmer time of year that the owners are gone. Then for the winter months theycomeout back. There are hoyses though that rent for as long as you want to live there. All of the agents we have met (they are residents here as well) are reputable and reliable. Having said that, I still would not rebt it sign a lease on a house I have not seen in person. Pictures can be deceiving and your idea of the perfect home and the agents, may be different. I know that finding rentals in November to April or May are harder to find than ones from May to November. I would suggest renting a place temporarily in the area you are interested in then looking for the long term rental you really want. Not all are advertised online. Some people just put signs up in local establishments. I am assuming you are not going to move all of your belongings here until you decide to buy or get your house built. If you are just interested in Ambergris Caye, Bobbyveee's suggestion is good. Personally, I don't think that website covers all of Belize that well.
