Hi! We are visiting San Pedro for the first time and would love to meet some Expats. We would love to get your perspective :)
Where would be a good place to go? Is there a bar/restaurant where the expats like to meet? We will be there 4/21-4/30.
Thanks!

Just about every bar and restaurant on the Caye has expats, the highest concentration of expats is on AC. One great place is Wayo's new bar over the water, everyone knows where it is. Enjoy your stay

A new restaurant/bar was just opened by an expat who gave us incredibly good advice and information as we researched our retirement to Caye Caulker (you should come visit CC one day while you're here!).

Iguana Juan's is the name of the restaurant, it is on back street and easy to find. The owner is Brad Reeder and he is a frequent poster in here, hopefully he will pipe in later on.

Safe travels and enjoy your stay. Let us know if you decide to come over to Caye Caulker, we can give you some tips to capitalize on your short visit.

I think this poster was looking at AC not CC, pointless posting, i certainly would not send people on short term vacation to CC that doesnt have a runway.. SP isnt on CC, you guys need to learn a bit of geography,. Enjoy CC in isolation. great caye., but dont visit just yet

Caulker is Ambergris Lite. A couple of hours was enough for me. Good place to study sensory deprivation psychology.
Ambergris is partyville; 20,000 souls on an island 25 miles long and 1.5 miles wide, in various stages of intoxication. It has as much in common with Belize as Cancun with Mexico.
Great tourist venue however. Corozal or San Ignacio are better retirement spots. The former offers proximity to the superior amenities and commodities of Mexico. They are cheaper also by a 30% margin with better produce.

Hey Bobby, I can read and understand English quite well, been my primary language for 63+ years!

Iguana Juan's in on AC, as well as Brad Reeder, if you're looking for an expat that can provide invaluable information, or just a good joke (he's a professional comedian too!)

So now, there is only one pointless post on this thread....look directly above this post!!!

TinanTony, as you can see there are 2 kinds of posters in here.....Those who genuinely wish to provide "valuable" & "pertinent" information to address a posted inquiry in a positive approach, or Those that feel the need to criticize other posters and take ANY OPPORTUNITY available to knock the country of Belize and generally be negative.

Again, Safe Travels and enjoy you visit to this wonderful country. And by the way, Caye Caulker is only a 30 minute ferry from AC and if you've got a day to spare, worth a visit, if for no other reason than to compare the two dramatically different environments. If you choose to do so, PM me and I'll happily provide further details.

CC4me, why dont you get off your high perch, we lived on AC for 16yrs until 2 yrs ago, Ive never knocked Belize, just its corruption and lack of a decent policeforce, along with other short comings, that are directly attributable to rotten and corrupt gov. officals. The poster was asking about San Pedro , not CC , so i most certainly not pointless, you need to grow up and chill a little, your a sad person on a little Caye, enjoy.

Not pointless ...a great new restaraunt opened by an expat in San Pedro was referenced.

Caye Caulker is a great Caye...i wouldn't miss an opportunity to visit. Do your research and decide for yourself...
Hope you enjoy your stay.

By reading some of the posts here, it's questionable if some posters even fully read/comprehend another's post prior to going bonkers all over the poster; and also taking some things personally, when in fact, if they read/comprehended the post completely, they would understand it isn't referring to them at all.

Kind of like a "if the shoe fits, wear it" thing. I guess some folks want to wear everyone's shoes!!!

5 days out TinaNTony!!! Great timing too, as the cold front that is currently passing through (since Saturday morning) should be long gone and you will have our typical 78F - 84F degree range days to fully enjoy Ambergris and all the wonderful, exciting and interesting things that entails!

We also hope you'll have an opportunity to make the short taxi trip to Caye Caulker and explore our unique Caribbean Paradise setting (if you take the water taxi from Belize City to AC, you'll make a "passenger drop-off" stop on your way).
