Remote work from Belize

Hi All
I am planning on moving to Belize. I’m coming for a visit for a month or two from end of February. I’m a South African citizen but have been working in Europe and the USA for the past three years.
I have a question: I do work online for a USA and Mexican company, so where I have an internet connection, I can work.
Will I be able to apply for the retirement program if I register my business there, open a bank account and get paid in Belize?
Advice appreciated.

For the moment you are not allowed to be working as having a job to be a part of the QRP. Legally speaking if you are working online for a US company you are not taking away a job from a Belizean so it should be okay. HOWEVER SOME IMMIGRATION OFFICERS see it as an issue to be making money while working online. It is not the law but who knows play it safe be a non resident. Be a tourist and what you do to make money online is your business.

I had a lot of biz friends on AC who run world wide companies brm the Caye , but no money gets paid into a Belizean bank usuall USA Europe or Australia , you dont pay tax or need to fill in forms , just be a tourist , real easy . Good luck Rob

Hello
you can reister a Belizean IBC corporation. That is a company which can do business everywhere except in Belize itself.

This company can open a bank account at a Belizean bank like Heritage or Atlantic International.
Than you can get paid in USD and withdraw USD if you are physically in Belize and also get a corporate credit card.

For the opening of the company and especially bank acount I strongly recommend to use a law firm. Dealing with this yourself can be a never ending process.
As bobby said, no need to apply for a residency program. Come as a tourist and get your passport stamped every 30 days.

Bobby. Would you be able to find out some of the company names? I’m looking for remote work myself. Thanks so much

You set up your company yourself. These people do no hire. They do their own business.

QRP retirement program is for Retirees, not folks working. Internet is no issue.
