Expat retirement

Hello all. My wife and I are looking to retire soon and we were thinking about Belize as one of our choices as the cost of living seems to be good. I am retired military and looking for some basic info on places where there are expat communities with places to rent. Also, if there is anyone who has lived in Belize a while, I would love to start a correspondence with them to find out more about living in Belize...you know, the little things only people who live there can tell you that isn't on any website. Appreciate the help in advance.
