We are considering moving to Belize. we aim to go there for one month in late December 2020 early January 2021. we intend to move around a bit for that month to get a feel for different places. At the moment we are thinking of seeing Ambergris Caye Caye Caulker, Placencia and maybe San Ignacio.
My concerns for the first trip are car hire and the best way to get around Belize with three kids that will be 9, 8, and 5. Do we need to book everywhere in advance or can we just travel around and stop in a place we like and get accommodation right then?
Bigger concerns for later would be the kids education and after school activities. id like them to still have the opportunity to play team sports or to have swimming lessons or water sport lessons.. I would absolutely love to hear from parents with kids around this age whom are living in Belize. Id love to get a taste of what your daily life is like. I love the idea of a slow pace of life where my kids can cycle to meet friends or to the shop or whatever. Can they just leave their bike outside or is it vital to always have everything locked. are they safe to walk to the shop etc? We would like the small town feel and to know that our kids are safe as they love to have some freedom.
Also for myself, is it safe to head of for a walk wherever I like in a small town or for a hike? What kind of animal danger is there etc?
Im also interested in Pilates so would love to keep that up.
