We are packing for our move to AC next month! We are Pickleball players--are there tennis or Pickleball courts there? Want to know if we should bring our paddles and gear. Thanks!

This may sound odd but Not only have I never heard of Pickleball courts in Belize, I have never heard of 'Pickleball' at all. I am assuming it is a form of ball game with rackets akin to tennis or Squash or even Badminton if it uses a court. I hale from UK originally so it may have a different name.

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the US. It is played on a modified tennis court (smaller) with a graphite/composite racquet with balls that are similar to whiffle balls. Older persons like it b/c it is fast paced and usually played as doubles. If there are any tennis courts on AC, it is easy to chalk or tape lines to be used for PB. Tell us if there are tennis courts on AC (we will be living just north of the bridge) and we will bring our gear and teach you! Be sure to google Pickleball and see how easy it is to learn and fun to play!

"Older persons like it b/c it is fast paced" LOL. That sounds like an oxymoron's.

Young people are picking it up also, but us older folks can play anytime since we are retired, so more are playing. It is fast paced, but almost always played as doubles, and people of different abilities can play together, as partners are switched after each game. So yes, a possible oxymoron.

OK, we are here in San Pedro, and brought our racquets and balls. If anyone has access to a tennis court and wants to learn how to play, we are on Facebook Messenger--el and peter colby

I live in Sonora Mexico and It is a big deal here for retirees. I don't play or hang out with groups usually but I know it is talked about a lot and I see the tournament results in the local websites.

Pickle ball was invented in the USA in the 60's and is played on a modified tennis court, its played in the US and Canada and will be unfamiliar to non north American expats , but its a great game especially for older players playing doubles.
