Easy to make friends

Hi, I am looking to travel to Belize in the coming months and try to find some work. I am 36 and Irish female. I'm looking for a nice laid back lifestyle and this place looks purrrfect.

Is there a good social aspect to make friends and find work? Ideally I would like to work in real estate but on arrival tourism would be good to get to know people...

I am sorry but you will hear this in spades. Jobs in other countries are reserved for the locals unless you have skills not found locally. Countries like Belize are a place to retire after you have money. Working in these countries will give you the same lifestyle of the locals. Even with you will not get a permit to work and if you work illegally your pay will be not to your standards.

You better stay where you are until you can financially take care of yourself and understand that this is a third world country, locals come first. Real estate agents are tooo many and there are kids in school for tourism. THere are no malls here so you go onto google and find out some hard facts. All in BZE money. So foreign exchange and wire transfers alone will kill you.

Hello Snowwhite,

I recommend getting a remote work you can do from here (Belize) and it's paid in EUR or USD, before coming.

Coronavirus has killed the tourism sector and many people is struggling to make ends, that includes many real estate agents and tourism jobs. That coupled to gov laws that forbid companies of employing foreigners before locals will make it hard to get a good job. Even if you do, pay will be low.

Learn to code would be my best advice, you'll be able to move anywhere.
