If your on the coast facing east , if the wind is blowing of the sea all is great once the wind changes and blows from the west , horrible especialy if ur on AC or CC. Sand fleas are worse than mossies tho.

Another reason I did not end up in Belize is the sand flees. I am in Sonora Mexico on the Sea of Cortez. Seldom a conversation about flies. I think there are no sand flees here. Standing water breeds mosquitos and we don't have that here. Desert at the beach is a great place to live.

Easy solution to sand fleas is coconut oil. Spread coconut oil on your legs (it's mainly your legs that the fleas attack). Problem solved without manmade chemicals. And you smell great :)

The only thing better than curing the sand flee problem with oil is live where they don't exist. I am a huge fan of vacationing in Belize but too many problems for living there. Flees are just one. If it wasn't for Belize speaking English most would not give it a second look for a place to retire. At least Mexico does not have banks failing. The federal fathers don't take all the money and they do have great medical and shopping. I say Belize is circling the drain and a very poor place to invest in anything. Belize is full of scam artist in the investment world there. True only fools get caught up in them but it does happen more there than other places I know about. I thought I would retire there after 30 years of scouting vacations there but when the time came I could not do it. Too many red flags for me. Many promoting it have something to gain or too stuck and won't admit it. With Belize you need a good exit strategy for sure, but hang on to your wallet.
