What Would Retirment be Like,?

My wife and I are making our first trip to Ambergris Caye to get a feel for what it would be like to retire there. Our plan over the next few years is retirement hunting while we travel to find the "right spot". We will be staying at Ramon's while we are there starting this Saturday. Is there anywhere, in particular, we should go or see to get a feel for the vibe of what it would be like to live there as an Expat?

Recommend two activities.

Contact a realtor and tell them what you are looking for. Don't buy. This will help you get a sense of what your money will bring you in terms of lifestyle. Recognize you will sell in the future. Look up Gabriel Zetina at one of the realtor offices. He grew up on the Island. Did a real nice job showing us properties and giving us insights.

Call Unda Seas adventures. Rent a golf cart out for the day. Pay Noelle, who grew up on the island to give you a tour around the island. Other than what you pay him, he has no interest in you, thus you can get a different perspective than a Realtor. Ask about Sewer/Water/Electric. If you want a great Snorkel trip ask him to set you up.

Watch the Will Mitchell youtubes.

If you decide San Pedro is to expensive or to commercial. Then look at Placencia which will be about $200 to $300k lower for the same type of property. Still too high and touristy look at Corozal.

If you want more of a River town feel, check out some of the smaller ocean towns.

Whatever you do, don't buy until you have visited and stayed at all of these locations. Try to rent an Airbnb that is the type of property you want to buy.

Hello,

If you want a better idea of what retirement would be like I suggest you rent an airbnb home. You will then have the opportunity to buy your own food and cook your own meals. This will at least expose you to the grocery stores and what you can and cannot get. Selections will be very different and prices may surprise you.

If you wish to just have a conversation please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] or contact me on WhatsApp +501-604-3225.

Hello @wmiller77 Since you lived before in Punta Gorda, I wanted to know how was it in terms of settlement . Appreciate if you could provide some information on lifestyle in PG and villages in Toledo such as Jacintoville, Forest Home, etc.
Addtitionally, is it possible to find live-in housekeeper/cook as we cannot eat outside food due to medical condition?

Thanks and appreciate your help in this matter
