I was wondering how difficult it may be to start up a Tourist Guide Service in Belize to help produce some income? What are the regulations and what if any licenses may be required?
We will be retiring soon and moving to Belize, so I’m thinking of ways to generate an income while there.

The tourism industry and businesses are regulated by the Belize Tourism Board. Contact them to find out about licensing requirements. They have a website with contact information as well as the various licensing requirements.. To my understanding tour guides and tour operators are protected jobs here and are reserved for Belizeans. You can start the company, manage it, but cannot run it, meaning you can’t do the actual tours.. All tour guides are licensed, there are fees for insurances, etc.

Retiring in Belize and needing income usually do not go hand in hand. Jobs, in the most part, are reserved for locals. People work for very little money in Belize, which means businesses don't generate much money. 99.9% of the time you take your money to Belize not generate money there. Also many people don't like to spend money for services that will benefit gringos. Locals are poor and retirees are rich. Locals need the jobs to feed their families. If you also need money to feed yourself then you will not qualify for residency anyway.
