Vehicle Import / Plate Process

Good Afternoon - We are importing our vehicle under QRP next month and have most of the information I need for shipping, however I am hoping someone can provide a few "empty blanks' we have right now:

- When the vehicle is processed for import, is it a one-day process when it comes off the boat or should we plan on a two day experience?
- What should the import processing fees expected to be at the port?
- Lastly, is receiving a license plate part of the port in-processing, or will we drive on our US plate temporarily until we go to a local DMV office to apply for a plate?

We are using Belize Custom Imports (Ernesto Perera) and the vehicle is already insured through RF&G effective 1 Aug..

Thank you for any input!

The process usually just takes one day. You should have a customs broker to help you through the process, they know what to do, where to go and will make the process easier for you.

Sorry, can't help with the import processing fees.

Licensing is a separate process. You have up to 3 months (don't quote me on this time frame) to register your vehicle with the dmv so you are able to continue using your own plate until you complete this process.

Note that the insurance and license stickers go on the front window, driver's side.
