Best Brand For Durability

From what I have read the roads in Belize are on the rough side. I have also been told that a turck is probably the best option for getting around. If this is true what has been your experience with:
1. Purchasing a truck in Belize (accessibility and purchase cost) or is it better to have a truck shipped there?
2. Brand(s) considered most reliable?
3. Ease of getting maintenance and cost for routine maintenance?
4. Gas or diesel?
5. Rear wheel drive or four wheel drive?
6. Cost to register/license a vehicle?
7. Insurance coverage cost and what limits of liability are appropriate?
