Testing the waters: QRP with kids?

Hi all,
I’m a Canadian expat married to an American digital nomad, and have two teenage kids. We’re interested in moving to Belize for 1-2yrs, to test the waters, but I’m unsure about the benefits of the QRP, so I’d like to ask:
1. If I’m the QRP “retiree”, can hubby work remotely on his US business from Belize?
2. If we enter as tourists rather than on QRP status, can our kids go to private school in Belize?
3. What’s the currency of the $2,000 required for QRP: UDS or Belize dollars?
