Hi, I am planning on moving to Yangon with my wife in Feb, 2017. Could anybody guide me on the challenges of living in Yangon and how the roads, infrastructure, cleanliness, pollution, housing etc are? We like catching up with friends and stepping out during weekends, so should we be excited about the move to Yangon or is it going to be dull and boring?

First of all where are you from ? if from the west of course , living in myanmar would be challenges. The road is yangon is ok but traffic is getting worst. As public transport no sky train. Only local people use public bus or taxi or driving by themselve. As expat cycling to work which can be annoyed with so many car but you will use to it. Cleanliness it really depend on specific areas you will stay at. A new modern condo has gratefully build up or hotel residency also another option and renting a house in suburb also nice and quiet too.
I don't think it will change much on your weekend ..we still have a lots of activities going on and more and more expat in myanmar so it means more activities, more party and weekend away for camping too.

hope it will help you to have some ideas.

Cheer..
Nann

It sucks. Overcrowded, polluted air, slow traffic jams, crazy drivers, increased crime, rippoffs. Good luck.
