Singing physics professor seeks long term rental on San Pedro

16d ago
Okay…. Physics is phun, but being forced into early retirement (short story, HS kids racing down a hallway ran into me sending me headfirst into a brick wall. Took 2 yrs to walk normally, no bright lights, headaches with nausea) The wonderful silver lining, I get to take my disability and annuity and move to Belize to break in my new sea kayak and windsurfing boards. The only caveat- I have an adverse rxn to apartments. The one time I lived in an apartment, I awakened every evening in night sweats. My mate, a professional upright bassist who played with Miles Davis as a teen. Mike teaches contractually at the esteemed Peabody School of Music in MD/USA, he’s coming with me. Most recently, a vocal coach for, “America’s Got Talent” told me I’d missed my calling by not singing professionally. No joke:) Meh, life is a wonderful journey. I’ve been a tv news anchor, worked at NASA Goddard, worked at EPA doing gas chromatography and I’ve taught high school physics, chemistry and biology for 33 yrs. Teaching full time on the college level is/was epic. But since, my severe traumatic brain injury in 2020, it prevents me from remembering the most mundane things like chemical formulas I’ve taught for years- I simply can’t remember. So, when life gives you lemons, you then make the best pitcher of lemonade possible. So, I’m planning to “do” the QRP program and snowbird six months at a time commencing in September 2025 as I prepare to move to your awesome Country permanently. Does anyone have a longterm 2 or 3 bedroom house rental in San Pedro for an older, mature couple?. I’m in the process of writing a book. My publisher is patient and I will be bringing loads of books as I’m constantly researching - hence the need for an extra bedroom that I will use as an office. Mike has keyboards, and several electric and upright basses that he needs to bring for our hotel/restaurant gigs. My academic interests are the Mayan ruins and temples. I’ve splelunked the TMZ cave and Xuinantinlith. Hoping to use LIDAR satellite remote sensing to do more. I’m currently writing an article about my experiences caving Mayan ruins for a popular archeological magazine. If it preprints this June (2025) I will share. Lastly, I will be bringing a small Pomeranian as well. Plz share my housing need with your community of peeps: private homeowners, honest real estate agents etc. Thx in advance. Looking to volunteer in the community and bring jazz vibes to your beautiful Country. Belize it!
