2013 Global Peace Index

The Institute for Economics & Peace released its 2013 Global Peace Index which, according to the IEP, "measures peace in 162 countries according to 22 qualitative and quantitative indicators of the absence of violence and fear of violence."

In Latin American countries, Uruguay is the least violent (number 24), followed by Chile (31), Costa Rica (40), Panama (56), Argentina (60), Cuba (65), Nicaragua (66), Brazil (81), Ecuador (83), Bolivia (86), Haiti (92) and Dominican Republic (94).
As a contrast, at the end (most violent) of the Latin American list are Colombia at position 147, Mexico (133), Venezuela (128), Honduras (123), Peru (113) and Guatemala (109).
Oh yeah, the United States came in at 99, below Haiti and Dominican Republic.
