FIRST TRIP TO ECUADOR

Well the wife and I will be leaving for Ecuador on the tenth of Nov and leaving on the 27th. This is going to be the first recon trip of two or three to see if retirement there is for us. We will be renting a car in Quito and doing a 15 day tour of the country, seeing as many areas as possible in that time. I'm thinking Quito to Tena to Banos to Quenca then to the coast. (I'm not going to look up the spelling of places)

After a few months of monitoring this site and doing some searches I have a couple of questions.

My first is about finding a room. I want to be as flexable as possible with where we stay. Is it reasonable to expect to be able to find a room with out reservations? We will prefer a private bathroom but not expect it in all places.

On the same line do most hotels have secure parking?

What we are hoping to do is narrow down the areas we may be interested in living in and then visiting them in more depth over the next few years. We retire in four years and I 've seen enough snowflakes.
