Visa Application Cuenca

We are 2 south floridians who fell in love with Cuenca on our visit last year in Sept. Came back in feb. and rented an apt. went back to Miami and got all our paper work together packed our house and put in a container to be shipped to us once we get our visa. Came here with 9 suitcases with things to at least survive for 6 months, after a week here we both come down with the flu, my husband ended up in the hospital for 5 days and is doing great now. The only document we ill needed was the Police back ground apostilled which we had our nephew send DHL it took two days from the date he sent it. Last week we went to immigration with all our paper work and had 2 glitches, the translation of the SS papers done in USA for the consulate to stamp was wrong and one other document more they wanted which did not need to be apostilled. So we went back today and everything was accepted. They praised the lady that did our translations here (by the way she only charged $ 7.00 per page and rushed for us. If in need of a translator in Cuenca you can e-mail me at [email protected] now immigration told us they will contact us by e-mail when our pensioners visa will be ready. Waiting in line we saw people crying and lots of them sent to Quito becuase of mistakes made when visas were stamped coming in with a T-3 and people had 6 months visas. So be very careful at airport with what they stamp in your passport. Good luck to all and we will keep you posted of our experience. Pam
