Hi,
I'm a medical student from manchester, UK. I'm hoping to spend 2 months working in Ecuador next year (or another Latin American country).
I'm looking for small, rural hospitals in which I can gain experience working in more resource-poor settings.
Preferably such a hospital/health centre would be in a nice location with countryside to explore/coastline where I could surf.
As a medical student I am competent in taking histories, examining patients and clinical skills.
I would happily work with charity led medical projects or public sector hospitals.
There are many private companies which offer medical elective "experiences" often for a pretty hefty fee (eg WorktheWorld). I am trying to avoid companies like this and go direct to hospitals or health centres instead.
Any tips would be really appreciated.
